Fancy By Design - aka "Fancy"
PtHA #89026 - APAR #A11205M - CptHA #P2110 "CF Fancy Pants"
Foaled Feb. 18, 1994
Homozygous Bay & White Tobiano

Fancy is a Bay and white homozygous pinto mare. Her top side is Saddlebred and her bottom side is Paint/TB/Arabian. When she moves, she flags her tail and steps out - absolutely beautiful!

I'd like to share a special moment with you that I had with Fancy. In April 1998, I was sitting on top of the fence watching the horses eat. Fancy came over to visit me and proceeded to muzzle my fingers. I started to pet her face and she put her head in my lap and closed her eyes. At that moment, my heart melted.

I don't know much about her bloodlines so if anyone knows of any the names in her pedigree, I'd love to hear from you. Her Thoroughbred blood is through the amazing stallion Swaps.

It must have been destiny that brought Fancy & I together. It happened in March of 1997 when my best friend and I were in Alberta going to the Horse Breeders School and Transported Semen courses. We left a few days eariler to stop and look at horse farms. We travelled approximately 75% of the length of Alberta visiting horse farms up and down the province and having a great time. Once the courses were over, we were on the way home and for some reason we decided to make one more stop and this time at a pinto farm. We looked at a few yearlings, at their stallions and then went inside for coffee. They asked us if we wanted to visit their other farm down the road about 20 minutes away where all their broodmares were kept. At this time, it was dusk and we decided we should get going home. It was then that I spotted a picture of Fancy. I thought she was so beautiful and her markings were so unique that I had to see her - on the other farm. By the time we reached the other farm it was almost dark. But as soon as I seen her, I knew I had to have her. And eight hours later I was telling Bernie I had to have this horse.

I have not regretted that decision. Fancy has a disposition of gold. She talks all the time, comes running when called, follows everyone around the property and if you have anything in her corral she will take it away. When we started training her to be hobbled, she figured out that she could walk faster backwards. So when we tried to get her to walk forward by tempting her with feed, she walked backwards away from the feed, turn herself around and walk backwards until she reached the pile.

Fancy has produced some awesome foals for us and is an excellent cross with Arabian stallions.
